A History Of Service

Since February 9, 1944, members of the East Cocalico Lions club have been serving their community.  On that date, sponsored by the Ephrata Lions Club, Lion President Frank A. Riteau and 31 members were granted their charter.  Twenty eight years later we sponsored the Garden Spot Lions Club and in 1998 we lead the campaign to create the first multi club sponsored Leo club in our District.

The Lions is an International Service Club second to none in membership and commitment to community service.  The relationships developed between fellow Lions are not just found within the local Clubs.  Our members have developed a positive rapport and kinship with Lions all over the world.  There are more than 46,000 different Lions Clubs with a total membership of over 1.35 million from 206 different countries and and geographic areas around the world.  Lions international, of which we are a part , is proud of having every individual Lions Club dedicated to the improvement of communities through service projects.  These Lions, following their motto "We Serve", are people just like you, each bringing something different to the club to which they belong and that is what makes each Club strong.  That's what makes it all worthwhile.

Seeing people in need benefiting from our efforts creates a most wonderful feeling inside each Lion.  We would like you to share this feeling.  Consider joining the East Cocalico Lions Club and begin to help us "Serve" our community and those less fortunate.  For membership or more information about the East Cocalico Lions Club call (717) 336-5311 or visit our website at www.eastcocalicolions.org.
