Words of Encouragement from Lion President J. K. Noel
We had a nice turn out at the Christmas Dinner and our Special Guests expressed their pleasure for being invited. Thanks to Lion Floyd, also known as FDR, for making those calls. Fortunately I had the chicken (I heard from the ham consumers that it left something to be desired –so keep this in mind should we go there again). I can’t say enough about the entertainment (hopefully this made up for the ham). The CharoLaires shared their talents with us and put on a fantastic performance under the direction of Ms. Nikki Shockey. I feel their music was enjoyed by all and I hope we can hear them again in the near future. Actually, only about half of the group was able to make this performance.
Unfortunately, due to icy conditions, the children’s Christmas Party had to be cancelled. With the number of calls from our fellow Lions, as well as those who came and could not get into the firehouse, we would have had a great turn out to help Lions Charlie and Jeff. They had a great evening lined up for the kids and I know they will be anxious and ready to go again next year. It seems that Lion Charlie had a busy few days since he also picked up the fruit baskets for Saturday’s delivery. A Big thank you to all those who gave their time to deliver the baskets. The recipients really enjoy the visit and being able to talk to someone.
Mark your calendars for Saturday April 1ST to attend the “Lions Appreciation” night at the Rainbow Theater. The play is called “Second Time Around” and should be enjoyed by all. By the way, they serve a good ham.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all East Cocalico Lions for their support during 2005 and your dedication to Lionism. We have many members who perform work outside of our club and many of us do not realize how involved they are in various community activities. I would like to extend to each of you and your family best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Yours in Lionism:
J.K. Noel (French for Christmas)
