Words of Encouragement from Lion President J. K. Noel
Hello fellow Lions. I assume that all members enjoyed their evening at "Appreciation Night" attending the
dinner at the Rainbow Dinner Theater. We saw the play "Second Time Around”, a comedy about two sexy
seniors trying to get together. All of those Lions attend would like say thanks to Lion "Bud" Lewis for
organizing the event with the help of Lion Jim Moser who helped with the arrangements. Every one who
attended this event thoroughly enjoyed the program. Good Friday April 14 our lions with the help of the
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and lion family members collected eggs and donations. The eggs collected and
cash donations were sufficient for Saturday’s Easter Egg Hunt on April 15th. Many thanks to Lions Phil
Deibler and Ray Wolf who co-chaired the Easter Egg Hunt again this year, as they have previously done
for years. We had about 900 children who arrived to gather eggs, as well as a present after the egg
gathering.
On April 21st, we will be attending Presidential Honor night which will be held at Yoder’s Family
restaurant in Leola. This event will start at 6:30 PM and we are looking forward to seeing many lions attend
this gathering. Saturday April 22nd, will be the District Convention at Cedar Crest Middle School. This is an
excellent opportunity to vote for the NEW District Governor (Lion Bruce Carpenter) after his Nomination.
Also, there will be two lessons available that can be attended to which helps give International information
of lionism to those attending. There are 12 to 15 classes that are very interesting and available for attending
and you can pick out those classes you feel are most interesting. School of Instruction will be held on
Wednesday, April 26th in Mount Joy at the career center. There will be a meal and then several seminars
available especially geared for incoming officers. Check with Lion Rick Bates if interested in attending.
Keep in mind that on April 29th, we will have the Senior Citizen Dinner which will be held at noon at the
Firehouse and then the Armchair Races will start with people coming in around 5:00 PM. We will be
looking for a lot of help with both programs.
It was once said by Helen Keller: Tell me and I forget; Show me and I remember; and involve me and I
understand.
Yours Prersident,
Lion J.K. Noel
Easter Egg Hunt
Lions Phil Deibler and Ray Wolf would like to thank all of those who helped collect eggs as well as those
helping at the egg hunt. Eggs and donations were collected on Friday the day was a little overcast and even
periods of sprinkles. Our luck held off for another year, they egg hunt went off smooth and what a beautiful
day. There were approximately 900 children and 18 cases of eggs on the fun filled day at the Reamstown
Park. Special appearances by the Easter Bunny and our own East Cocalico Lion had the children smiling
laughing and yes some crying. A special thank you goes out to Wal-Mart for their help in the event.
