Food Drive
Lion Bob Weaver did it again, an outstanding job of organizing several lions clubs to be involved in this years two day food drive. The food drive was held Friday and Saturday July 7th and 8th. Lions clubs from Ephrata, Schoeneck, and Baron Stiegel helped Lion Bob man the doors at Weaver Markets as well as Martin’s. There was 5 ton of food collected and over $700 in donations, Lion Bob wants to thank all of those who helped. Congratulations Lion Bob on a job well done.

Passing of the Banner
Passing of the Banner was held Monday August 14 at the Reamstown Fire Hall. There were approximately 45 family and friends from East Cocalico Lions Club present, a total of 120 supportive Lions, Lioness, Leos, family and friends were there. The entertainment was a bit of a skit by PDG Lion Floyd Doner. Thank everyone that participated and helped. Just a reminder to next years President, East Cocalico Lions will be a part of next years Passing of the Banner.

Club Picnic
The annual club picnic will be held Monday August 28th at 6:30 PM at the Reamstown Park. For those new lions this is a time for us to get together as a lions family group, it is a family event. Each lion should bring one hot food item and one dessert. The Hot dogs and Hamburgers are cooked for us by the outgoing Lion President. So please bring the kids and enjoy the comfort of fellow lions.

Reamstown Days
Lion Leroy Berger will be asking for your support again this year at the Reamstown Days on Friday and Saturday September 8th and 9th. There will be a sign up sheet at the picnic August 28. Please help if you can.

Denver Fair Parade
Lion Walter Long is heading up the Denver Fair Parade to be held Wednesday September 13th please let Lion Walter know if you plan on attending. In addition we have entered the Mohnton Halloween Parade for Saturday October 14th at parade start 7:00 PM in Mohnton. Please let Lion Rick know if interested in joining in on the fun.

Ephrata Fair
The Ephrata Fair is coming and help is needed. Please remember that cleaning of the trailers will be the first meeting September 11. There will be a brief business meeting then off to the Silo, so please dress accordingly. Chairperson Lion “Bud” Lewis thanks all of the lions in advance for their efforts and support.
Our next regular meeting September 25 will be Ephrata Fair Set-Up; Lion “Bud” will need our help again.

ATTENTION
The club is still in need of several Chairperson positions, some of them are Fall Oyster Supper, Football Games and Publicity just to name a few, please contact Lion President Don Hartranft. The first football game will be Friday September 1.

Corvette Raffle Tickets
Lion Rick has Corvette raffle tickets for the 15,000 original miles red Corvette. Only 1000 tickets will be sold. You need not be present for the drawing, Saturday September 30 at the Ephrata Fair. Cost of a ticket is $50.00; please contact Lion Rick for tickets. If all the tickets are sold there will be $30,000 donated to SABVI. Let’s please help the cause.

Just a Reminder
September Board Meeting will be Tuesday September 5, 7:00PM at Park Place Dinner

It is that time of year again; time to pay your dues. This year’s dues are $33.50 for six months and are due by September 30, 2006. Next billing will be January of 2007.

There is talk of postage stamps rising in price again, so please if you have an email address please let the secretary know so that he can save the club some cost.

Those Lions that are Chairpersons, please remember to get a tax exempt form from either the Club Secretary or Treasurer.

Let’s wish all those fellow Lions their family and friends that are not feeling well or recuperating from surgeries a speedy and safe recovery.
