Chairperson Lion Bob Weaver wants to thank all those lions that helped make the Food Drive another success. Between the two markets Weavers and Redner’s,  on October 20 & 21 there were 178 boxes of food collected , which equals approx 3 ½ tons of food. In addition there was $450 collected all of which was donated to Ephrata Area Social Services.  In with our food collection was the food collected from the Region III Rally.

Region Rally
The Region III Rally was held Thursday October 18th at the Reamstown Fire Company. The event offered many items, from a good meal, 50/50 drawings entertainment and opportunity for IPDG Lion Bruce to hand out many District awards. Some of the award winners from our club were PDG Lion Floyd Doner, the Rally MC was presented with a Progressive Melvin Jones, and Lion Rick Bates was awarded a 100% Secretaries award and a Melvin Jones. In addition to many other award recipients our own Lion Bud Eshelman’s wife Patricia received a Melvin Jones. Congratulations to all.

Sight First II Update
Congratulations to the East Cocalico Lions Club for becoming a “Model” Club. By pledging $400.00 per member to LCIF and Sight First II (Close to $25,000), we will be able to save 4,166 people from blindness.  It takes only $6.00 to save one person from this dreaded disease! The Sight First II program is in its third and final year to raise 150 million dollars (with an additional 50 million challenge) through contributions and pledges by June 2008.
The club’s Sight First II committee had its initial meeting to come up and suggest ways that we as a club will be able to meet our commitment of about $5,000 a year for the next 5 years. Basically there are 4 ways to do this. We can ask for personal gifts or ask for donations from business or use funds directly from the club’s treasury or have a fundraiser(s). The committee is looking at each one of these options (or combination) to decide on their recommendation to the board and the club.  The committee welcomes and encourages any suggestions and ideas from any and all club members. The committee is meeting again November 12th so please give any suggestions or comments to Committee Chair, Lion Bruce Carpenter by that date.
